Holly Hunter (born Holly Hunter) is a famous American actor and producer who has gained recognition for her exceptional roles in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano, and The Incredibles. The movie Piano earned her numerous awards which included an Oscar. At a young age she began acting on stage in various Broadway or Off-Broadway shows. Enthusiastic about acting from the time she was in school, she portrayed Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. Mumps caused her to be blind and deaf in one ear, but she refused to let that to stop her from becoming an actress. As a young woman she studied drama in college before moving to New York City from Pittsburgh to follow her dreams. Hunter was able to make her Broadway debut after an unplanned meeting and Beth Henley, a playwright. They collaborated in Broadway Crimes of the Heart. When she moved to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to find movie roles. The role of a supporting actress was securing for her in Swing Shift. Over the past three decades, she has appeared on various TV series and movies. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrity as well as a winner of the Women in Film Lucy Award.
